EU Parliament puts pressure on Member States to adopt Corporate sustainability due diligence directive

13 MARCH 2024

On 7 March the European Parliament issued a briefing on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence directive, in advance of the Strasbourg plenary session taking place between 11-14 March 2024.

In the Briefing, the Parliament brings attention to the debate on 12 March that will take place on the proposed directive, and “urge the Belgian Presidency and the Commission to ensure the corporate sustainability due diligence directive will be adopted before the end of this legislature.”

This debate follows the failure by Member States permanent representatives to 28 February to approve the provisional agreement on the directive, reached by Parliament and Council in December 2023.
