The international Scientific Committee of the Nutri-Score published a first report concerning the recommended update to the Nutri-score algorithm. Those changes were approved by the steering committee and will therefore be part of the new version of the Nutri-Score allowing a better discrimination for fatty fish and nuts, correction of some limitations and a better alignment between the classifications and nutritional recommendations.
Nuts will be excluded from the ‘fruit and vegetables’ component of the Nutri-Score and will be classified with fats. Furthermore, nuts and seeds without added salt or sugar will be better off. Fatty fish without added nutrients (salt or oil), will have a more favourable classification as well.
