FRUCOM attends hearing on sustainable tuna fisheries in European Parliament

On 21st June, FRUCOM attended public hearing in the European Parliament on sustainable tuna fisheries.

Julio Moron from the Spanish organisation of tuna freezers OPAGAC presented a responsible fishing standard. Representative of WWF Raul Garcia referred to the WWF-OPAGAC fisheries improvement project, and a speaker from the International Transport Workers' Federation spoke about the Code of Conduct.

The event was co-chaired by the Social Democrat member of the Fisheries Committee Serrao Santos and the Green member of the Parliament Linnea Engstrom, who presented the Initiative report on the implementation of control measures for establishing the conformity of fisheries products with access criteria to EU markets.
