European Parliament Committees elect Chairs and Vice-Chairs

Members of the various Committees of the European Parliament held their first Committee meetings during the week beginning 22 July in order to elect the Chairs and Vice-Chairs.

Of interest to FRUCOM members may be the following:

Committee on International Trade Chair: Bernd Lange (S&D, DE), who was re-elected

Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Chair: Antonio Decaro (S&D, IT) elected, succeeding Pascal Canfin (Renew, FR)

Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Chair: Anna Cavazzini (Greens/EFA, DE), who was re-elected

Committee on Industry, Research and Energy Chair: Borys Budka (EPP, PL) elected, succeeding former MEP Cristian-Silviu Buşoi

Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development Chair: Veronika Vrecionová (ECR, CZ) elected, succeeding Norbert Lins (EPP, DE) who is now 2^nd Vice-Chair.

Committee on Fisheries Chair: Carmen Crespo Díaz (EPP, ES), elected, succeeding former MEP Pierre Karleskind

The European Parliament began its summer recess from 29 July to 1 September 2024. It will resume Parliamentary business on Monday 2 September.
