On 20 September, the international conference on the Green Deal and the new challenges for Moroccan exports to the European Union took place in Agadir.
The event was organised by Morocco Foodex and opened by the agriculture ministry Mohammed Sadiki. The objective is ensuring the position of the Moroccan export offer on the European market in the context of the Geen Deal.
Among the participants were Lahbib Bentaleb, president of the Federation of the agriculture chambers of Morocco, Luis Dias Pereira, economist at the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and Ghita El Ghorfi, general director of Morocco Foodex. Furthermore, international experts intervened on various topics such as sustainable food systems, the role of fruit and vegetables in the fight against climate change, Green Deal challenges for fishing and aquaculture, sustainable use of pesticides, fruit and vegetables decarbonisation, seafood revalorisation in the context of the Blue Transformation.
Mrs Sadiki said that Green Deal should not be perceived as a constraint but as an opportunity to improve Morocco agricultural practices and competitivity on the international markets. In this context, adaptation and innovation are crucial.
