EU Commissioner designate confirmation hearings before Parliament begins Monday 4 November

The confirmation hearings of the Commissioners-designate have begun on Monday 4 November and will last until 12 November.

Members of the European Parliament will evaluate whether the Commissioners-designate are qualified both to be a member of the College and to carry out the particular duties to which they have been assigned.

All hearings are public and can be followed live on Parliament’s webstreaming and Ebs/Ebs+.

On Monday, the first hearing to take place between 14.30 - 17.30, was that of Maroš Šefčovič, the designate Commissioner for Trade. The Responsible committees were the Committee on International Trade and Committee on Constitutional Affairs

Bernd Lange (S&D, Germany), Chair of the Committee on International Trade, and Sven Simon (EPP, Germany), Chair of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, held a press point after the hearing outside the meeting room, which can be watched on Parliament’s webstreaming and on EbS.

In the late afternoon of Monday, Christophe Hansen, the Commissioner designate for Agriculture and Food is scheduled to have his hearing from 18.30 - 21.30. The Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible. And the hearing can watched here .
