FRUCOM open discussion 22 March on sustainability

On 22nd march, FRUCOM members held a discussion on sustainability. Over 60 participants from Belgium, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, the UK and the USA, representatives of the European Commission and of the diplomatic missions took part. Ms. Beatrice Gorez, Coalition for fair Fisheries Arrangements - CFFA, member of the Board of the EU Long Distance Fleet Advisory Council and Market Advisory Council for Fishery and Aquaculture Products, spoke about her experience in fisheries and what could be applicable to agricultural commodities.

Ms. Julie G. Adams Vice President, Global Technical & Regulatory Affairs, Almond Board of California, presented 2025 Almond Orchard Goals, sustainability initiatives, and benchmarking to the European SAI platform.

Ms. Judy Hirigoyen, Vice President, Global Marketing, American Pistachio Growers, spoke about sustainability in pistachios.

Mr. David Black, Program Officer Fresh and Ingredients, IDH, gave examples of IDH work in fruit juices, nuts and aquaculture.

Mr. Varun Trivedi, Vice-president, Olam Europe B.V, made a case for re-designing the agricultural production model with the Living Landscapes and At Source initiatives.
